Who We Are

 

The Blue Marble Academy Inc. teaches students from K to grade 12 and cover a wide variety of subjects. We offer homework help, specialized programs, career development and access to a variety of online sessions. Though we are a Learning and Education centre, we focus on a comprehensive and holistic approach to our students that include building leadership skills, sustainability knowledge and real-life experiences.

The Blue Marble Academy Inc. is founded on an approach to sustainability, of decreasing our footprint and making smarter, more environmentally friendly decisions.


Subjects

 

We are recruiting in-person Instructors to teach the following subjects for K - Gr. 12:

  • Reading

  • Writing

  • French

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Coding


Job Description

 
  • Teach students from JK-12

  • Must have a good grasp on how to teach Spelling, Reading and Writing for JK-Grade 3

  • Most will work with the same students weekly for months at a time

  • Understand the curriculum for the courses you are or will be teaching

  • Spend time preparing for your session and writing post session reports and uploading through Google Docs

  • Specialists will work with leadership team to prepare lesson plans and finalize learning curriculum for your student.

  • Teach leadership skills, share updates on sustainable activities, participate in Social Media updates to The Blue Marble Academy Inc. and our events

The ideal candidate is:

  • Works well with children of all ages

  • Dedicated, organized, reliable, consistent and confident with lots of patience

  • Self-starter, motivated to help and support children, positive outlook, efficient and effective

  • Good-natured and inspiring to students and their team

  • Works well with timelines and Google Drive, Microsoft Team and other online applications.

  • Quick starter, listens well, follows up with students and parents

  • Passionate about the environment, sustainability and willingness to take on other activities with the team (i.e. Green events, online seminars etc)

  • We are a collaborative group dedicated to our student’s needs, personality is very important to us!


Requirements

 
  • Certified or working towards certification by Ontario College of Teachers or; in University/college or; have sufficient expertise in the courses and above-average marks.

  • Experience as a tutor or if just starting out you will be expected to pass a practical.

  • Early Childhood Educators or those working towards your ECE.

  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Open to new ideas and learning strategies.

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills

    *Can also do in-home tutoring in the future which means access to a car/vehicle. Will do our best to align students based on where tutors reside.

  • New hires must attend a training session in order to qualify for the position, date to be determined.


Location

 
  • Permanent part-time with opportunities to increase hours throughout the school year.

  • In-person (at 18 Doctors Lane) Some virtual hours with in-person.

  • Supporting all GTA

  • We will try to fit you with students located near where you reside for when/if in-home tutoring is required.

  • Ability to commute/relocate:

    • King, ON L7B 1G2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
